“The Gate House”

 

 

Features:

The Gate House is a bright, spacious two storey, gated house with private parking for two cars. Set against the backdrop of the old medieval walls with private patio gardens on two levels with the exclusive, breathtaking views of the spire of the Heritage Centre, Cooley Mountains, Carlingford Harbour, Carlingford Lough and the Mourne Mountains. Large bright windows to the front and rear bring the essence and beauty of medieval Carlingford inside.

First Bedroom: On the ground floor, a twin bedded room with parquet flooring, and tiled ensuite with walk-in shower.

Second Bedroom: On the first floor, a bright cosy bedroom with a double and single bed, fitted wardrobes, with views of the front courtyard and the Cooley Mountains.

Third Bedroom: On the first floor, a bright bedroom with double and single bed, large fitted wardrobes and views of The Cooley Mountains and the courtyard.

Fourth Bedroom: Situated on the first floor, large windows make this a bright comfortable, cosy room, with a double and single bed, built-in wardrobes, with views of Tholsel Street, Mourne Mountains and harbour.

Ground Floor

Entrance Hall: A long bright and welcoming hall with tile flooring and door to the lower rear patio garden and a carpeted staircase leading to the first floor. It includes a cloakroom area with box bench. Large built-in cupboards give plenty of storage space. Perfect for the golfing, sailing or hiking gear.

Kitchen: A large, warm, spacious old style country kitchen with views of Tholsel Street, medieval walls, and the front courtyard. The old world charm is enhanced by an electric Aga and pine dresser. The kitchen incorporates every modern appliance; double electric oven, electric hob, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine/dryer. Enjoy delicious meals and great conversation around a large pine table. French doors lead to the lower private patio garden.

Lounge: A beautifully furnished cosy lounge with views of the front courtyard. A double leather sofa bed gives extra sleeping possibilities.

Cloak Room/Toilet: Off the hall an enclosed downstairs cloakroom area which in turn leads to a toilet and wash hand basin.

First Floor

Rear Lounge: At the top of the stairs is a very bright living area with ceiling high windows capturing the spectacular views of the medieval walls and spire of the Heritage Centre by day or night. Doors lead on to a magnificent upper night lit patio-garden. At the other side of the lounge a door leads to a hall way incorporating bedroom, bathroom area.

Front Lounge: A beautiful lounge with marble fire place and coal-effect fire. A leather three piece suite makes this the perfect spot to watch television or to admire the breathtaking views of the summit of Slieve Foy. A door leads to the upper side terrace.

Hallway: Annexed to the rear lounge is a spacious hallway, incorporating ample built-in storage space, bedroom, family bathroom and separate toilet.

Family Bathroom: A fully tiled bathroom including Jacuzzi bath and electric walk-in shower. Lovely fluffy towels are provided for that extra comfort.

Toilet: Off the hallway is a separate toilet and wash hand basin.

Exterior

Lower Patio Garden: A beautifully maintained private, spacious, night lit patio-garden set against the backdrop of The Tholsel and the medieval walls of Carlingford. Stone steps lead to the upper patio-garden.

Upper Patio Garden: Another spacious, private well maintained patio-garden leading onto the side terrace. Enjoy the exclusive views over the roof tops of Carlingford Village, the Cooley Mountains and Carlingford Lough. Both patio gardens are tastefully lit so can be enjoyed by day or by night.

Side Terrace: On the upper level, nestled between the house and medieval walls, with stone steps leading into the front courtyard and upper patio garden.

Front Court Yard: A gated front courtyard, with room for two cars. Stone built storage sheds are under the steps leading to the side terrace, just perfect for the outdoor activity gear.

Arrival/departure times: 16:00 hrs on day of arrival and 10:00 hrs on day of departure.
